CAVEAT EMPTOR (BUYER BEWARE)

This is an example of the many emails that we receive from very frustrated, and obviously unhappy, puppy owners who purchased their puppy from so called German Shepherd breeders at bargain prices. The result of doing business with these people can be disastrous, and the so called "bargain" can end up being very expensive. In this particular instance, the dog cannot climb any stairs and wobbles terribly when it walks. Financially, hip replacement is between $3,000 and $5,000; emotionally, the cost of a chronically sick puppy is astronomic. You decide!

Do you sell young adults around 1-2 years old? I read the story on your site about the BARGIN 6 month old Shepherd, I am in almost the same boat. I contacted a breeder selling German Shepherd pups for $500, I told the breeder I needed a Calm easy going puppy to become my Service Dog. She knocked the price down to $450, and I ended up with a Male that will never have the temperament to become a Service Dog, he rarely likes eating. Never listens etc. But because of his temperament he'll have to be sold, this is why I am looking for a 1-2 year old. All the dog trainers around here start training dogs at 1-2 years old so they can go right into public Access training right away, none of the breeders I have spoken to are willing to donate a Dog to be trained as my Service Dog.
Thanks....... Becky

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to talk with me. I'm afraid of what I may have to go through with my pup. she is 6 months now, but you never know... the breeders I got her from were asking 1500.00 and gave her to me "out of the kindness of their heart..." for 500.00 that and because she was the only one left from the litter, and so old... she's a sweetie, I truly love her already, and would hate to lose her, but she'll just have to be a loving pet. I was hoping maybe to get her trained for search and rescue, but alas, I don't think that her legs will allow it.  Thank you again for taking the time. hope you don't mind I add you as a buddy, maybe I'll be looking again in the next year for a pup.
Thanks,
Dawn
